Radius Seat vs Conical Seat - Which Do You Need?
This is the critical fitment decision for M12 bolt-pattern vehicles. A radius seat bolt has a rounded, curved contact face that matches the bowl-shaped hole in radius-seat wheels. A conical (60°) taper bolt has an angled flat face for a different wheel geometry.
If your vehicle came with BMW OEM wheels, check whether they use a radius or conical seat; both exist in the BMW range. Check the existing bolt's contact face profile, or consult the wheel manufacturer's specification.
Common Applications
Commonly specified on vehicles using M12 × 1.5 radius-seat bolts, including:
- BMW: Selected models using OEM radius-seat alloy wheels (older 3 Series, 5 Series, Z4, and others, verify per model year)
- Mini: Selected models with radius-seat OEM wheels
- Mercedes-Benz: Selected models with M12 radius-seat bolt fitments
